High speed side-entry-type take-out robot

"SXA-800III" for middle and large size molding machines

has been developed

Yushin has newly commercialized "SXA-800III", a high speed side-entry type*1 of take-out robot with NC motors for 3 axis. This robot is for middle and large sized injection molding machines. An order of the robot should be received from July 20th. 2004. Yushin is the dedicated supplier of take-out robots for injection molding machines, carrying the motto "Heartful Technology"(President Mayumi Kotani, headquarters in Kyoto City, capital of 1.98566 billion yen).

Recently, there have been more cases to put middle or large size molding machines inside a clean room at productive plants. Since the height of a ceiling is restricted in the case of a clean room, a take-out robot of different specification from the usual one was required.

The SXA-800III robot is developed as an applicable robot for molding machines from 240 to 850 tons. The unique 3-axis design of the SXA-800III robot allows automation of high speed molds on large tonnage machines. The robot is also suitable for low ceiling facilities and clean rooms because the robot does not require a lot of space above the molding machine due to its side-entry style.

 
(3 main features of the SXA-800III robot)
 
1)1. In addition to the servo motors on the traverse and extraction axis, the robot incorporates servo motor on the vertical axis to accommodate down stream operations such as palletizing and for quick change over to new jobs. (Our conventional side-entry type robots, unlike the SXA-800‡V robot, are for small molding machines. Though the extraction position of the SXA-800‡V robot is much higher than that of the conventional robots, it has to release products at the same height as the conventional ones. That is why this robot needs to equip servo motor for vertical axis for precise product-release).
 
2)2. Special high-power servo motors are used to optimize acceleration, deceleration and overall speeds. Extraction time takes just 1.1 seconds*2 and whole the dry-cycle takes 6.0 seconds*3.
 
3)3. It equips E-touch Web controller as standard specification.

The E-touch Web controller has following features.
1.Equipped with the communication port necessary for networking.
2.Flexible and expandable functions realized by
Windows-based operation.
(1)Data transmission via network
By connecting the robots to an in plant network, the operator can read teaching data from any similar robot in the network. Messaging functions allows sending of data or information to any similar robot or office computer on the network.
 
(2)Remote control
If remote control software is installed on the robot controller, data and programs can be transferred over the internet. This is an expandable function that allows future Yushin service center to support customers recover from difficulties by checking programs or offering other services.
 
(3)Note function
Using the supplied stylus and the controller touch screen, operators can import images or use an optional USB camera, to make notes and add comments and store the images with the teaching data.
 
(4)Camera phone
If a USB camera is connected to the controller, the operator can have a net meeting with any other person with a PC. The remote person can see conditions and assist the operator or maintenance staff.
 
3.Equipped with software "Lead Through Teaching" that allows customers to easily add and modify robot motion programs.

[Supplementary explanation]
 
(*1)Side-entry type: An ordinal take-out robot inserts an arm from the upper part of a molding machine in order to extract products, whereas a side-entry type robot inserts an arm from the side of a machine. Therefore, it is suitable for products that are not tolerant to dusts or for the place with a low ceiling.
 
(*2)Extraction dry-cycle: It is the cycle time required to simulate a part of extraction operation with a robot simple substance. More precisely, the simulated operation includes only extraction motion from inserting a robot arm into molds to taking out products from the molds.
 
(*3)Whole dry cycle: It is the cycle time required to simulate the whole extraction operation with a robot simple substance. The whole operation means a series of motions such as extraction motion from standby position, product release motion at a predetermined position and return motion to the standby position.
 
*Stroke and timer used as the basis of dry-cycle calculation are based on a standard specified by Yushin.
